Movement Goals.
My goal for all of my patients is to reduce any limitations in their life that may be created by movement dysfunction or inefficiencies to help improve the quality and quantity of their life.
Movement Screens and Assessments.
I use a the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) to determine where there are limitations in mobility that can be the source of current pain, or the precursor to future pain. This system helps provide a road map for a focused treatment and a guide to corrective movement patterns, allowing for steady recovery when there is pain and path to lower the risk of future injury when there is not.
Joint by Joint Approach.
The joint by joint approach is a system that looks at the body as a whole through the interconnections of joints. Basically, pain or dysfunction in a joint/system can lead to or be caused by a dysfunction in another joint along the chain. This is considered in my treatments and recommendations.
Strength and Stability.
The goal of my treatments are to reduce current pain or prevent future pain or injury. As a Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC) I am able to provide exercise recommendations alongside treatment to build strength and stability to aid in those goals.
Studies have shown that strength and stability can be major factors in all aspects of health. From prevention of illness, reduction of disability in older adults, psychological benefits, and even increased life expectancy. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23174542)
